Male and female Eurasian tree sparrows look the same to humans. However, birds can see ultraviolet light, which is reflected especially from the light spots of the plumage with different intensities. According to research, the sexes of the sparrow can be distinguished under UV light.
The mural was part of the Inside Another Skin- exhibition at gallery Rajatila in Tampere. It was visible from the gallery windows to the street, and looked different during the day and at night thanks to UV lights and fluorescent paint.
